Plot: An admired high school hockey player (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) with a bright future foolishly takes a drive in the night with his girl friend and two other friends with his headlights off with devastating results. The former athlete is left with a brain injury that prevents him from remembering many things for extended periods of time. To compensate, he keeps notes in a small notebook to aid him in remembering what he is to do. He also lives with a blind friend (Jeff Daniels) who aids him. Obviously, with the mental incapacitation, he is unable to have meaningful work. Thus he works as a night cleaning man in a bank. It is there he comes under the scrutiny of a gang planning to rob the bank. The leader (Matthew Goode) befriends him and gets him involved with a young woman (Isla Fisher) who further reels him in. After they get close and after reeling him in with his own failures, the bank plan unfolds. Confused but wanting to escape his current existence, he initially goes along with the scheme. After realizing he is being used, he attempts to stop the robbery, which of course immediately goes awry. Bruce McGill and Alberta Watson also co-star as the young man’s parents, who still search for the person that was there before the tragic crash.

Breathless: just another poem about a boy and a girl?
I’ve been in the quite the mood to write lately, so I’ve finished yet another piece. It’s called "Breathless" and it’s about me dreaming about having my first kiss with my crush. Please let me know of any suggestions/revisions concerning my piece. Thanks! <3

The sparkle from the mid-June sun catches my
eye and leaves me captivated in a daydream of us.
The chatter of high school students fades into a
murmur
and suddenly, time pauses.
The world steps aside for our fantasy in the making.

You would grab my hand and lead me through the
empty hallways while my heart beats through my chest.
The butterflies would pass from me to you through my
trembling
words, but your smile would calm me.

[In Your Opinion] What's Some Bad Movies That Had Potential To Be Good?
Im talking about movies that looked really entertaining on the preview, or just the hype about them, and when you saw it, they were horrible.

I got a few.

Tropic Thunder. Some big names in it, but didn’t cause any big laughs.

Strange Wilderness. This was a big hit and miss for having Adam Sandler behind it. Plus there was actually funny actors that starred in it, but to no luck failed.

The Punisher sequel. I actually feel asleep to it. What happened?

Carlito’s way: rise to power. Remind me not to buy straight to DVD films ever again.

 The DaVinci Code…
All the right subject matter was there, but the presentation was pretentious and contrived. Also, Dan Brown plagiarised ALL his ideas for this story from Baigent, Lincoln and Lee. I think it’s all stuff worth consideration, but doesn’t translate well to film.

Timeline…
The book by Michael Crichton was sooooooo much fun, well-written, exciting and adventurous and does just what you expect from a good novel…doesn’t allow you to put it down and makes you easily feel as if you are right there in the story.
Some extremely key elements of the book were ignored in the movie, the acting and directing were equally lifeless…and I resent the director for this because I know it likely has turned people away from reading the novel.

Solaris (2002 version)…
My favorite film of all time is the original Russian 1972 version of Solaris, directed by Andrei Tarkovsky. It’s the most original and beautiful and mesmerizing "film experience" and to me it will never get old no matter how many repeat viewings.
This movie introduced things not in the book at all. Actually, the book’s beginning occurs 45 minutes into the film. Also, there were some occurences set on the planet in the book, which were entirely omitted in the film. Even the central theme was altered. Despite all this, it WORKED in a way it otherwise may not have.
Sodergergh’s updated version attempted to remake the first film almost shot-for-shot, rather than taking the chance to translate the original story. (Why do something exactly the same, but with sub-par actors and lifeless direction?) All the actors were very, very poorly cast. Ultimately pointless effort. Cronenberg should have done it!
Benjamin Button. The idea was FANTASTIC and the storyline was good, but the way they executed it..they had so much more potential they could’ve reached, but nope, didn’t hit it.

Still a good movie, but I expected more from it.
Owned By An Aussie | Apr 28, 2009

The Hustler (1962?) with Paul Newman, George C. Scott and Jackie Gleason.

It was really great for the twenty minutes that they were playing pool. The rest was an ill-advised, long, and poorly-executed snoozefest.
dac | Apr 28, 2009

The Eye, but it had too many of The Sixth Sense mojo in it.
Murphy | Apr 28, 2009

 The hulk 2003 version…=)…

Can you answer my question???…

 Kenneth J | Apr 28, 2009

X-Men Origins Wolverine. Download the leaked copy on the internet to see what I mean, not a good movie at all. weak plot, bad acting, poor continuity with the other films, poor character development and basically pisses on the actual comic books.
Cyberweasel | Apr 28, 2009

Godzilla (1998) and Halloween (2007). I think Rob Zombie butchered what could have been a great movie. Shame.
Ax | Apr 28, 2009

Running Man- The original story written by John Bachman (aka Stephen King) was so well written and would have translated to film beautifully but they didn’t even come remotely close to sticking to the story line.
I’ve told you already that this story is based of the part of Rapunzel. She had long blond hair and to be a moviestar she turned into Barbie. When this film was made, it’s just the story vice versa.

It begins with an abstract battle of light and darkness set to the music of Beethoveen’s Fifth Symphony. Then we see the adventures of a Humpback Whale calf and his pod set to “The Pines of Rome.” Next is the humourous story of several lives in 1930’s New York City, scored with “Rhapsody in Blue.” Following is a musical telling of the fairy tale, “The Steadfast Tin Soldier” set to Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Then a goofy Flamingo causes havoc in his flock with his yo-yo to the tune of the finale of “Carnival of the Animals.” This is followed by the classic sequence from the original film, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” starring Mickey Mouse and followed by “Pomp and Circumstance” starring Donald Duck as a harried assistant to Noah on his Ark. Finally, we see the awesome tale of the life, death and renewal of a forest in a sequence featuring the composition, “The Firebird.”

if you’ve seen the movies, they’ll be pretty easy to figure out…

Wow. That list is REALLY long. Like the first answerer said, why do you need these?
In Finding Nemo, Marlin (Nemo’s dad) goes through a lot of anxiety while looking for his son.
Alice from Alice in Wonderland (I really wanted to check if you had that one; I love that movie) seems to have a little anxiety, since she’s having trouble following the skewed logic of Wonderland citizens.
As for other characters from movies near the top of the list, they seem to feel a little depressed and incomplete, like Mulan (felt that she was a disgrace to her family), Tigger (in The Tigger Movie, he didn’t have a family and felt really sad), Beast (in Beauty and the Beast, he’s scared that nobody will like him because he’s pretty darn ugly), etc. You can just watch some of these movies again (it’s fun, trust me) or at least think about the ones you remember fairly well.
