Why did you choose the breed you own?
And what’s the last person that should own your dog breed?

Just curious to know…

My answer: I chosed Rhodesian Ridgebacks because they are beautiful dogs and combine my lifestyle. They are a generally healthy breed, very active and energetic, which is great, because I’m fit and love the outdoors, jogging, running, and going for long strolls. They are also very inteligent, which is great, because I’m an Obedience\Agility addict… They do well in hot climates, unlike many breeds, which is also very good, since I live in warm California sun. And they are excelent dogs, very sensible, calm and playful, and Jimbo loves kids, which is great, because I have three brothers, the youngest aged 9 months old.

The last person that should own a Ridgeback is a first-time dog owner, not consistent, doesn’t know how to stablish dominance, lazy coutch-potatoe that thinks the Ridgeback is a TV-watching companion that doesn’t need constant exercise and mental and phisical stimulation. He would be driven nuts by a bostorious, nervous and distructive dog!

I just realize that I’m always saying "which is great". Ah ah please ignore that!

I don’t want to know about you’re designer mutts. If you have a mutt, just say "mutt", that’s final.

We have a Cockapoo
Cocker Spaniel/Poodle.

We chose that breed because my wife told me that is what we are having.I had no say in the matter.

We have a border collie – I have grown up with a variety of different dogs and whilst I appreciate all breeds the collie has always held a special part in my heart. I love their intelligence and their little quirks – the fact that they are hard working and love to have a job to do, that they could easily walk for miles and miles and well… I just love everything about them!!

A jack russell but we think she’s a miniture one.

We picked her because she was the cheapest at the kennels :)

And because I love how brave and loyal they are. It shows in her already. She’s still the tiniest thing on the planet and goes after my mother’s dog, Chance, who is a massive Alsation/Lab cross and tries to terrorise him. She terrorises the cats at my mother’s house as well.

Plus she follows us around constantly and likes to be carried around on our shoulders EVERYWHERE :)

I think someone who is lazy shouldn’t own any dog at all, or someone who isn’t going to play with them. I found my puppy needs a lot of time and dedication, and she wants all the attention, so someone who gets angry or is impatient is probably a no-no. And someone who would keep a jack forever because it’s a shame to betray such a loyal dog who wouldn’t leave you :(

I have a Border Collie.

I chose the breed because since a young child I always wanted one of ‘those fluffy black & white dogs who chased sheeps’ ha ha. Then I googled them, and spent years of research looking into the breed then got my own border collie. I wanted one because they’re marvelous to look at, their personalities are amazing, they’re wit and intelect, their loyality and obedience. Their true character. I love it.

lab- they are just fun loving. they don’t care what you look like they will just love you more and more. and they love the water. i love swimming so they make great swimming partners. and she has great stamina. so that’s why i chose my crazy daisy. i love her.

Right now my purebreds are Shiba Inu, they are 14 and 12 years old, and I will not be getting another one. When I did get them I needed a dog that could do well in the cold, could be left alone, quiet and clean, all of which describes a Shiba very well. The flip side to that is an independent dog that wants little to nothing to do with its people.

We have a border collie/chow chow mix and we just got her from the local shelter. She is such a family dog and gets along with anybody. We got her for no specific reason, we just got her because she stood out from all the other dogs. Shes a gorgeous dog and was easily trainable. Shes very active so we take her to the dog park often and we adore watching her play because shes much more agile than all of her friends so while they’re playing she’ll jump over them. Shes still a puppy but despite that she knows and follows all of the house rules without complaint and is always ready to be pet :) shes’s also a very funny dog. When you’re petting her, she’ll put her leg up in the air and start chewing on it like its her chew toy. She also makes the most hilarious faces when shes playing so we have some great pictures of her. I suggest that anyone looking for a great dog looks at the animal shelter because they have the sweetest and best dogs in the world who were neglected and abused and looking for a new home. Save a life and adopt from the shelter please, we adopted our gorgeous Colleen from there and she’s added so much life and happiness to our family that I can’t even thank our local animal shelter enough :D

I own two dogs, a mutt and a Springer.

The Springer was/is our second dog and we wanted a a breed that fitted the following; has a love for water, medium size, high energy, friendly, good with other dogs and children, one that can live along side other animals, reasonably healthy, ok left alone for 4 hours each day, easy to train and a good family pet that enjoys playing. We considered the Hungarian Vizsla, Working Cocker, Flat Coated Retriever, Weimaraner, ESS and Labrador Retriever, but in the end decided that the English Springer Spaniel was the best fit for us.
Since having a field Springer, I’ve grown an interest in working a dog, and so I’m training my Springer us as a gun dog.

Springer shouldn’t be owned my first time dog owners, families with small children (as these are high energy dogs that can easily knock over a small child), lazy people that will not give the breed a full 2 hours exercise a day, people who aren’t willing to put in a lot of time and effort in with the dog, someone who does not want a dog who will constantly want to play.. generally just couch potatoes that don’t know about dogs!
